Why masking fails predictably

Why does the smell keep coming back?
Almost always because the source was never removed. Treatments mask; they do not remove material inside a wall, under a floor or in a crawl space.
Does ozone remove odour permanently?
It is a treatment applied within a process, not a substitute for removing the source. Any claim that a single treatment permanently removes all odour without addressing materials is worth questioning.
The smell is worse when the heating is on. What does that mean?
Typically that the source is in an assembly or air path that warms up, or that the system is distributing it. It is a useful diagnostic clue worth telling the responder.
Can a musty basement be treated without fixing the moisture?
Not durably. Musty odour is a moisture symptom, and treatment without moisture correction returns with the next humid season.
Is odour a health issue?

Do I have to remove the flooring?
